Our Lovely Room ( + collab with InteriorCrowd !)
As you may have noticed on my personal Instagram (or my previous post in our Mid-Century Modern on a Budget Series), we've begun decorating our new Nashville home! Now, I don't know about you, but my main priority was definitely getting our living room nice and pretty. I supposed my plan was to decorate that space perfectly and then I guess the rest of the house would follow---right?!
W R O N G.
Ive come to learn that decorating is work. You can only spend so much time drooling over your fave Pin-boards before you fall asleep on the couch with one hand in a bag of air-popped popcorn , your husband watching the news, and your house still un-decorated. (By "you" I mean me, and by "the news" I mean Sabrina the Teenage Witch.)
Let's face it: though remarkably fun, Pinterest can be a fruitless time-suck.
Quite frankly, with my small handful of free time I don't want to be scouting and scoping every trendy online store or thrift shop to put together a space that may or may not actually end up looking like my teenage bedroom grew up and threw up some eclectic BS. I want a sophisticated, clean, inspiring space to live my life and not feel like I'm always missing something.
Quite frankly, I just want help!
This is why the folks over at InteriorCrowd have the right idea. They make finding an interior designer not only affordable, but personal, practical, and convenient for anyone! Personally, I feel like our master bedroom is a really good place to start decorating, I just never knew where to start!
I'm excited to announce a partnership with InteriorCrowd (or @interiorcrowd if you're on social), an online interior design company that will connect me with a talented interior designer who will help me transform my master bedroom. As a gift to my readers, InteriorCrowd is offering an exclusive deal. Go to www.interiorcrowd.com to get started with a style profile and use promo code 'ickarsyn' to get 35% off the regular design price of $299!
Now, for the juicy part: my before pics!
So, we basically have no furniture. We opted for using drawers in our closets instead of a dresser, but now our space is just so naked...I'm at a loss.
I really really want to get either get rid of the curtains entirely (probably the best option--they were at a thrift store for $5), or find a way to incorporate them so that they look expensive.
One of my fav things about InteriorCrowd is that they work with your budget! It's so incredible; they'll help you source from anywhere to find the perfect fits for you.
No one said our room was pretty, okay?! This photo showcases my two biggest pet peeves about our room: my husband's dire need for the ambient sounds of a crappy old box fan and the foil-taped luxury of my window AC unit. HALP!
This shot almost makes the bed look pleasant---it's a lie. That pillow? Yeah, no pillowcase. (Just an aged, naked pillow crying for a cozy faux fur cover or something? )
Honestly, my style is so all over the place. For me to attempt to incorporate my antique vintage love + Midcentury modern love + black and white love + Scandinavian interior love + actually something intimate since it's our bedroom look would equal a literal tornado/tsunami disaster.
Here's a little taste of my *all over the place* taste that I've sent to the designers to work with for our room. I'm so anxious/excited to see what they want to do!
Loving the colors and textures on this bed!^ the art, I can leave.
Omg omg the pink feels in this room.
Just. Curtains. Stripes. Amazeeeeee.
Don't you just want to go to sleep in this morning-lit messy bed?! And like, also eat avocado toast and maybe coffee with the hubs (or wife)? And maybe wear those knee-high cable knit socks? And anything else that unsaturated perfect fashion bloggers do with their white beds and crispy linens? I know I do!
